With all that programming and graphic design knowledge, why not move away from the default WordPress theme and Times New Roman font?

In short, I’m cheap and spending all of my free time these days looking for work, so I don’t do too much playing around with my blog. I started this on WordPress in order to be able to generate content w/o having to muck around too much – the restrictions keep me focussed on content when I’m working rather than look and feel.

That said, I did at least update the header. You do have a point.
